Swim Lessons: Rats in Training

Charleston invites newer swimmers to become Water Rats in Training. This program matches younger swimmers (ages 3-8) with older swimmers to learn the basics of competitive swimming, all under the supervision of our coaching staff. Our Water Rats in Training can participate in daily swim lessons where they will focus on swim strokes and techniques in a fun, relaxed environment. We also invite our Water Rats in Training to be part of our swim team by participating in kickboard races during our Wednesday evening “B-meets,” and attending our annual swim banquet.

This program is available to swimmers of all abilities, including those who aren’t yet comfortable in the water. Whether your child hopes to one day join a swim team or just likes having fun in the pool, Water Rats in Training will help them develop water skills and confidence while having a great time!

Water Rats in Training sessions operate Monday through Thursday from Monday, June 17 to Thursday, July 18. We offer two sessions each day: Morning (10:15am – 10:45am) or Evening (6:00pm – 6:30pm). There is no requirement that participants attend every day — just that they communicate with coaches as to which days they plan to attend.

The participation fee for Water Rats in Training is $100 per swimmer, for the entire season. For more information, send an email to:
swimteam-info@charlestonswimclub.com.

Note: Participants should be potty-trained, willing to put their face in the water, and able to be in the water away from a parent without being upset. Generally, we start swim lessons around 4 or 5 years old.
