Coach AJ Mann (Head Coach)

AJ is currently a third-year student at the University of Cincinnati studying sports administration. Swimming has always been a part of his life with over 13 years of competitive swimming experience. AJ has been involved in teaching and coaching swimming since 2014 and a swim coach since 2016. AJ served as the Charleston Swim Club’s assistant coach in 2021 and is currently a coach/instructor at Life Time Fitness in Mason, OH during the school year. AJ is excited to begin a new chapter as the head coach at Charleston and is excited to get to work!  About the upcoming year, “I feel the most important thing about coaching, and what I want to focus on the most, is making swimming fun while building a positive culture of trust. I want us to be the hardest working team that also has the most fun. I want to get the best out of every swimmer and build a positive environment where everyone can flourish.”

Wendy Bakshas (Assistant Coach)

Wendy Bakshas is in her first year as assistant coach at Charleston. She is currently coaching and teaching swim lessons at SJAC. Prior to SJAC, Wendy served as assistant coach and lesson instructor at Cherry Hill Aquatics. She swam competitively in tri-county for 14 years and has served as a lifeguard at Woodbine. Wendy Bakshas is currently enrolled at Camden County College, studying business and accounting. Though it is always an adjustment with new coaches, Wendy plans to make the transition as smooth as possible and make sure the summer is amazing!

Miss Evie (Rats in Training Coordinator)

Evie is a Junior at Cherry Hill East High School. She has been a member of the Charleston swim team for 11 years and swam for Cherry Hill Aquatics for nine winters. Evie has been a Rats in Training instructor since 13 years old and assists with younger kids on the swim team. She is a certified lifeguard with CPR training. In 2019, Evie won the Della Marsden Award for unselfish dedication to the Charleston Swim Club. In addition to swimming, Evie dances competitively for Artists in Motion,
teaches beginning students in tap, and is an in-classroom assistant.
